Spray Painting Again

Yes, I've been spray painting again. Beautiful weather results in outdoor projects, like transforming my latest Goodwill finds. I have been looking for a few more orange accessories for our living room, to no avail. So I'm taking matters into my own hands.

Stopping by GW the other day, I found three potential victims projects for my next spray painting adventure! A nice sized ginger jar shaped canister (12" with lid on) , and two smaller vases ( 6" & 4")

Even with just the primer coat, they looked better

I had to do 3 coats on the fruit canister, I didn't want to see any of that shining through

2 coats handled the blue vase

I wanted to keep the ginger jar white, so I painted it with 2 coats of Glossy White, pumpkin orange for the smaller one and blue ocean breeze for the bigger vase. All from Krylon.

Smooth as a baby's bottom!

After they dried, I gave them a couple of hours, I brought them inside.

And played .

And played...

...and played some more...

Spray Paint Your Stuff

Do you use spray paint?
I must confess that I have not always used spray paint.
I guess I thought that using it was taking some sort of shortcut, and I am a do it right or not at all kind of gal. I was wrong. It was a lack of experience that caused me to doubt the joys of spray paint.
Discovering HOW to spray paint has really made a difference. Using a good metal primer is crucial (in my opinion) for flawless adhesion. I have painted a number of brass lamps, and primer has been key in getting a perfect top coat.

If you have something you love, but have become bored with it, why not give it a coat of paint? I find that I have no fear when it comes to painting something that I only paid three dollars for.

My favorite brand of spray paint is hands down, Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint. It does exactly what is says it will do.
"Dries in 10 minutes" It does!
"exceptionally smooth and durable paint" It is!

Spray paint is transformation in a can!
I hope you're inspired to try some spray paint!

Ribbon Pillow

Just when you thought I couldn't get one more pillow on my sofa...I went and made another one. Just for the record, I am not a seamstress, but simple, elementary projects: I'm OK...just don't ask me to whip out a dress or anything.
If you read my post about embellishing store bought curtains with ribbon, then you know I have discovered the genius of Heat n Bond....which inspired this whole project...I want to see what all I can bond together!
I found this beauteous fabric at Walmart in the 1.00/yd bin, not only was it a beautiful shade of turquoise, but it has the most beautiful shade of cobalt blue on the reverse, that I just fell in love with!

Because I can't sew, yet have some sort of fabric fetish, I bought some and decided to first make a pillow, then maybe with the remaining yardage perhaps squeak out a tablecloth. Unless I can get my dear MIL to sew for me. Elaine are you out there?
I wanted a lumbar type pillow and cut a rough shape out. I planned to have the cobalt on the back, but wanted to have a smidgen on the front too, I cut about about 4" off one side
and flipped it over

I sewed it up and ironed the seam flat

Using Heat n Bond and the same ribbon I used on the curtains, I adhered two strips of the plain ribbon side by side and a second ribbon from my stash, on top, right over the seam. I love the little white stitching on it.

I sewed the pillow up and turned it right side out. It looked pretty good...so far

I stuffed it with poly-fil and hand sewed the opening. I've never sewn ribbon before, but it was really easy and looked nice and tidy.
You might notice in this picture that I forgot to flip the fabric over to have the solid cobalt on the back before I sewed the pillow, oh well...

That will just give me an excuse to make another pillow!!! :)

Loverly!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're inspired!!!
