Candy Tablescape

Welcome to another wonderful Tablescape Thursday @ BNOTP and Holiday Linky Party @ The Inspired Room

*Christmas Edition*

Susan and Melissa are our wonderful hostesses, be sure to visit all of the participants.

I've got quite the mixture this week, a little candy and a little retro, which is ok by me...I collect both of those looks

The Gibson dishes haven't been seen for a while, but they make a fine appearance on today's table, because white goes with everything

My tablecloth today is very special to me, this was my mother's tablecloth and I really love it...

Is it stained? Yes.

Is it dingy? Yes.

Do I care? No

It is a little small for my table...and I have a really small table. I think it hangs maybe an inch off...I think things were just small back in the day

With such a busy cloth, the Gibson dishes are really nice

The napkins are some that I found at Tuesday Morning, this Summer

Flatware, with a retro vibe, Target, I think they carry them all the time.

Milk glass, ever present around the house, holds cute little glass candy ornaments

Peppermint candy candles that I got at the dollar store a long time ago, love these

Loverly twisty tapers in red....

Love this gingerbread man cookie plate and my chocolate candy ornaments.

If you would like to see how to make your very own chocolate candy ornament, click here. It's super simple, and fun to do!

I added some candy canes and twisty sticks to my centerpiece, removable of course, just for fun

The snowflake drinking glasses came from the dollar store this year, they are perfect for a glass of egg nog!

Thanks for stopping by, I know this is such a busy time of year!

I hope you're inspired!

Thank you for hosting Susan and Melissa!

Chocolate Candy Ornament

How would you like to make some chocolate candy? What? You don't cook? Hmmm....don't worry this chocolate candy ornament is easy as pie, or whatever......

First of all, I purchased glass ball ornaments at the end of the season last year, knowing I wanted to make these as gifts for friends and family, this year....but these boxes are so inexpensive anyway....It would be ok to pay full price. :)

Next whip out the glue gun, load that thang up and keep the sticks handy, because this step will take a lot of sticks. Begin by taking the little metal hanger thing out, so you can stick a pencil (eraser side down) into the ornament to keep it steady.

Next, start right along the top and glob on the glue, letting it run, working your way around the entire ornament, until you've got something that looks like this:

I like to do several at a time because really, who doesn't have a zillion yellow no. 2 pencils laying around, when you have school age kids Hu? I use the pencils as a cooling rack and stuck them where ever I can find a place until they cool....the glue looks cloudy when it's cool

Now you are ready to paint. I highly recommend this type of spray paint, because it is a specialty paint, that has the perfect shade of brown...I haven't tried regular spray paint, but this is the perfect chocolate brown.

Now honestly folks, you very well could stop here. It looks really cute, just like this...but I can't leave well enough alone...

So, I use Mod Podge to coat the runny area onlyQuickly sprinkle sugar looking glitter on

And well, you could really leave it looking like this...it looks really cute with a little bit of sugar on top...

But no, not me...I have to keep going...I mean well enough doesn't like to be left alone...
So with little red crafty berries

and crushed PLASTIC peppermint sticks

I decorated the top of the chocolate ornament...I did a random gluing of the berries and candy cane, you can do as much or as little as you want....

Ok, I'm going to leave it alone now! I added a little ribbon string and bow in the cutest check ribbon

Don't pay any attention to the glue strings, I'll get those off...

That's it! Now you have a super cute Chocolate candy ornament to keep or give to friends and family!
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you're inspired! Try a chocolate candy ornament today!

Christmas Centerpiece

Welcome!

Thanks for coming by, I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I am still enjoying all the homes on tours and it's been so fun to see how everyone decorates and displays beloved treasures!

Today for Met Monday, Make it for Monday and DIY Day, I'd like to show you how I reconstructed a centerpiece. I bought this pre-fab arrangement last year after Christmas, it was around $4.00. I love amaryllis and this was a pretty silk version

I especially liked the container it was in, it was worth the four dollars just to get the container!

I began the deconstruction process which mainly consisted of ripping it to shreds!!! A steak knife came in very handy! I cut the blooms off the top and discarded the rest
What I was left with was a beautiful silver container, and beautiful white silk amaryllis
I collected pine and berries that I had in my stash, filled the container with floral foam and made a compact centerpiece
I like how it turned out and it's much more functional for me now

It'll be featured as my centerpiece for Tablescape Thursday, be sure to come back and visit

I have a couple more projects that I hope to share this week: how I revamped my cedar wreath that you saw in the home tour, and a DIY ornament, you'll just love!

Thanks for coming by! I hope you are inspired to look at pre-fab arrangements in a different way!

Thank you Becca, Susan, Cindy and Kimba for hosting!

Christmas Village

I don't know why, but I love putting out my Christmas village! Maybe it's the nostalgia, maybe the connection to each building I feel. Each piece represents something in our life...the coffee shop for me, the gas station for Justin....Perhaps it's my inner child, playing with houses...what ever it is, I love looking at each and every one of them and I hope you do too!

This is not an expensive line, not Dept. 56, not even Lefton, I have collected it for about 10 years now from good ole' Walmart. I know right? Sadly, my collection has ended with 12 houses because the quality is just not there anymore. However, I will cherish this collection and hopefully it will survive for my children's children!

Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Go see Mary @ Little Red House to see other beautiful mosaics!
