Setting the table for Easter has such special meaning! It's not about the easter bunny, or about egg hunts, but about what Jesus did for us on the cross!

I used shades of purple to represent the King of Kings!

I made super easy place cards for the bunny holders...I used a paper punch and punched out a scalloped circle, glued a purple flower on, and made name flags with my word processor and just cut them out and glued them on top of the flower, simple. Oh, and glitter of course!

Creating Festive Centerpieces

Candle centerpieces are certainly expected for an Easter Luncheon...but how creative you can get with ordinary items will make the difference in the everyday and the unexpected! I know I'm not alone when ribbon is being discussed, I have a vast collection of ribbon and think of it as half inch fabric on a roll! Love ribbon!

For this project, you'll need a few things:
Glass candle holder
Terra cotta pots
Krylon Spray paint (this color is Gum Drop)
ribbon (I chose 4 different kind)
Easter grass
Easter eggs
embellies
Hot glue gun



Now, if you say, "Michelle, I don't have that kind of candle holder!"

That's OK, this project is up to your interpretation, make adjustments where needed! If you need a larger or smaller pot, if you need a different color pallet...make it your own! Just remember, it's all in the details!

For example, the candle holders I have didn't exactly fit, but using a small pot inside the larger one, raised it up enough to work. I painted the terra cotta pot a beautiful shade of lavender, fitting for Easter....I didn't bother painting the smaller on inside, you'll never see it.



I added Easter grass

and eggs



Now I was ready to work on the candle holder. First I glued ribbon around the circumference of the holder. I did not glue on the glass, I glued the ribbon to itself, keeping it really tight. This will make it easy to remove and store until next time.



Next, using some coordinating smaller ribbon tie a shoe-string bow





Because of how tight the ribbon is, I found that using a small object to push the ribbon under worked best for me. I had an embossing tool close, but anything small would work




I used 3 different ribbons and thought it was looking great, very festive! Just tie a bow with each different ribbon!



But because I wanted this to coordinate with my floral centerpiece, I used some of the same flowers on the candle holder. Again, it's all in the details. I simply popped of 2 of the flowers, glued on a button and jazzed up the button with some little gems, and now I am really liking it!





I also jazzed up some ordinary taper holders with a small version, ribbon and a single flower

Spring Time Garland

Thank you for all the comments on my upcycled Easter candy containers! They were so fun to do! Now, I'm going to show you what I did with the lids! You might remember that I made a Lucky Garland for St. Patty's Day in the same fashion, but this garland, I used lids as the base! They were a perfect size!

Here's what you'll need for this project:

Upcycled lids

Hot glue gun

Crepe Paper

Book paper and scrap book paper

Mod Podge

Glitter

Chipboard letters

Embellies

Jute

Because of the ridges on the top of the lid, I Mod Podged book paper to some heavy card stock, and then glued them onto the top of the lid. This just added a extra layer of strength, because I use vintage book paper and that can rip pretty easy.

Next, I glittered the edges of the lid, because let's face it, everything is better with a little glitter on it! I again used Mod Podge as an adhesive for the glitter and instantly the edges look great!

Let the Mod Podge dry

(did I really just include glue drying time as a step with a picture? Hmmmm, Oh yes, there it is, I think I need help.)

Next, using crepe paper, create a ruffle around the back of the lid. I found this to be very convenient, the ruffle stayed nice and neat.

I used some chipboard letters and painted them a heavenly shade of blue

(It's so sparkly!)

I used some embellies and buttons that coordinated

and notice that I used different letter style a couple of times, I like how using a different style letter gives the garland a "ransom" look, but in reality, I didn't have all the letters I needed, in one style...in the words of my husband: Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!

To make it look more purposeful, I punched out a little circle and layered it on the lid, these letters where smaller so they needed some extra body. Just because we improvised, doesn't mean it has to look that way!
(It's so shiny!)

Finally, I evenly glued jute to the back of the lids and it was done! I just love the Hot pink and Cool Aqua together!

I hung it across our hutch and it looks so happy!
