Even after all this time writing here, I really struggle with how personal to get or how much I share of myself, you know, beyond paint colors or a new rug. I am always in awe of the women that share themselves so openly, like Kelly and Kelle, just to name a couple. I could learn so many things from those two. Anyway.... ....I just want to let you know that things will be very quiet around here for a while. How long? I'm not sure. I will be having surgery next week, this Monday to be exact, to remove a tumor. Luckily, it is not a cancerous tumor, but a tumor nonetheless. Apparently, it is quite large and has been happily growing on my adrenial gland for quite some time. It has gotten big enough to make me sick, smoosh all my organs up, raise my blood pressure and give me terrible headaches. They will be removing the adrenial gland and tumor that is attached to it and the adrenial gland on the right side of my body (apparently we have two) will hopefully take up the slack of all the adrenial jobs (it has several). I don't want to bore you with all the mundane details but I am expected to make a full recovery and hopefully get back to my normal self.
See, that's the part that I don't share here, I haven't been normal lately. Ha, ha! Just kidding, I have been sick for several months now and while I feel quite anxious about the surgery and all that means, I really hope that I will bounce back quickly and be back to my old tricks soon. I have never had open surgery before so I'm not really sure what to expect, so I'll just play it by ear, like most things.
Thankfully, I have my husbands wonderful family around me and even my sister is flying in from NC to help me when I get home (she's always taken such good care of me!)! I am actually so excited to see her, it's been so long! So bare with me, I have so many things that I want to do and want to share! Surgeries are such an inconvenience!! :) Thank you so much for reading and sticking around , I'll be back!
Wishing you a speedy recovery, take care of yourself:@)

ReplyDeleteOh wow, I just had surgery for the first time recently too, it was a scary thing...just fear of the unknown, but it turned out to be so great. To finally fix the problem that youre dealing with for so long is such a blessing! Praying for peace.

ReplyDeleteHi Michelle
ReplyDeleteI hope your surgery goes well and you start feeling like your self again very soon.
I will be thinking about you.
My best- Diane
I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer, Michelle! Surgery is an inconvenience and scary, but sometimes a necessity. One I had to plan ahead for {a partial hysterectomy} and one was an emergency {appendicitis}. The one relieved a lot of pain that I had been in, though, so I'm not sorry I had it done voluntarily. These were both over the past five years, too, and I'd never had surgery before. Big hugs, because I know how you are feeling!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, best wishes that you will have a good recovery and will feel like yourself in no time!
ReplyDeleteMichelle: Best of luck with your surgery and recovery! You'll be in my thoughts and I look forward to reading more here when you feel better. Take care! Tricia

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say you are not alone in struggling with figuring out how much to share and to wish you a quick and speedy recovery, I think you will be in all of our thoughts...
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for your surgery and recovery.
ReplyDeleteYes, sharing personal information is a tricky balance for me as well.
My friend had a non cancerous tumor in her head and was very scared too. But it went all well, after only one week of hospital she could go home! She is doing fine now and does not have headaches anymore. Don't worry, you will be fine too! I know it's a hard time, even though it was not me who needed the operation, I was pretty shaken up for my friend. But it will all be fine! The docs do wonders those days;-)
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself! We will miss hearing from you for sure. You are so prolific and seem so energetic now, I can't imagine what you will create when you feel "normal" and well again! I can't wait. You have inspired me so much.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for commenting on my travel jewelry roll. I also want you to know I'll be praying for you for all to go well on your surgery and that you recover quickly. You are so brave! I love that you are in good spirits and sharing this with your readers :-)

ReplyDeleteMichelle, I liked your comment about joking about not feeling normal recently, are any of us really normal anyway? LOL I wish you a speedy recovery and thank you so much for sharing your story, it makes you more real..I look forward to when you can come back and share yourself, and your design
ReplyDeleteSending happy thoughts and prayers your way, take care.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you. it is hard, but He will see you thru.
ReplyDelete{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} take it easy & treasure the moments with your sister ;)
Hope the surgery goes smoothly and that you rebound quickly! We'll miss you in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, know that God is there holding you in His hands & you will be fine ... lucky for that non-serious tumor. I think there is a fine line between sharing & putting your whole life out front ... just be comfortable for yourself with where you want to go with exposure.
ReplyDeleteGod speed my friend, prayers will be lifting for you.
Happy April ~
TTFN & hugs~
Marydon

Hi there. So I am a fellow Pheochromocitoma(?) been a while so I can't remember if I spelled it right, survivor. Mine cost me a kidney as well due to the fact that the doctors kept telling me my symptoms were A) due to a different reason, B) when they couldn't figure it out they basically implied it was all in my head. I would love to compare notes on our mutual experiences. Let me just put your mind at ease. Other than feeling pretty weak afterwards my symptoms were all gone in less than 20 hours. I went from needing insulin every 4 hours etc to being told my blood sugar was low and to get some sugar in me. I wish you well and look forward to hearing how you made out. PS I had to post as anonymous because no other option would work
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the surgery, Michelle!! I definitely will keep you in my prayers!
ReplyDeletePrayers to you for a speedy recovery. I've enjoyed your blog and I'm looking forward to reading more here when you feel well enough to share.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about how open to be, and it amazes me just how open (TMI) some people are - anyways.... This was just enough to let ppl know "you" and wish you well. Take care and many prayers will be said for you for a quick recovery (and no more smoosh!)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your next beautiful creation... xo Lynda

ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you! Take your time, your health is most important. Gentle ((hugs)) and much affection, m. xoxo
Michelle, I had the x-ray for that a few years ago (dye injected x-ray) The Dr. was trying to figure out why my bp was so high. No tumors, thank the Lord. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Please update us when you can. Rest, and take good care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I hope you get better soon! I actually had the exact same surgery when I was in college, just on the other side. I was told it's rare and called Conn's Syndrome. I was really sick with super high blood pressure and terrible headaches. It took a while to find, but when they did, they did surgery asap and it was tough, but my symptoms completely went away after surgery and I've been fine ever since, the other one kicked in and took care of it! :) Best wishes for a quick recovery!
ReplyDeleteTake care and sending you warm thoughts for a speedy recovery. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI am sure your surgery will go well and you'll be back to your usual self soon. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery. hugs Anu
