Forsythia Door Basket

Don't you think forsythia is one of the prettiest flowering bushes? It is blooming everywhere around here, it's one of my favorites. It has always signalled the first of spring for me, so I was inspired to do a basket for the door with some silk forsythia.

I've had this long narrow wall basket for several years now, but this is the first time I've used it on the front door.

Remember the twigs I used in the centerpiece on the dining table? I had enough left over to stick several in with the silk...it really helps keep it looking real. I also used a little ferny grass to pump up the green too.

I'm ready for Spring!

I hope you are having a great weekend. My boys are on spring break, so I hope we get to do a lot of fun things before I start chemo on the 26th. Talk to you soon!

  2. Michelle: The basket is perfect. Forsythia is one of the first blooming bushes of spring, but around here the flowering quince beats it a little bit. Both beautiful and I always just think of a wreath on the front door, but this is much prettier...Have fun with your boys..Judy

  5. I love the springy touch on your door!
Good luck with Spring Break and I'll be thinking about you as you start with your chemo treatments. I'm so sorry it's to that point. Thank you for "putting it out there" and letting your "friends" in blog world know about this time in your life. I'm a firm believer that the more people you tell, the more prayers that are offered in your behalf. And who doesn't need extra prayers? I'll be praying for your recovery!

  11. I have to tell you - I don't like forsythia at all! To me it is nothing but a weed. I told my hubby "When we build a house there will be NO forsythia bushes on the property!"

BUT... that door hanging is really pretty! I think it is just the long white basket, LOL.

  15. Gorgeous arrangement. I had a cornocopia I wanted to hang on my door with forsythia in it. LOVE how you added the feathers. Pinned this of course.
