It's Friday, the day before our country's 233rd Birthday. A celebration of Independence...I could have pick any number of patriotic topics to discuss for Julia's Hooked on Friday . But today (and everyday) I'm hooked on Tom Petty.
Well she was an American girl raised on promises
she couldn't help thinkin' that there was a little more to life somewhere else
after all it was a great big world with lots of places to run to 
yeah, and if she have to die tryin' she had one little promise she was gonna keep

it was kind of cold that night she stood alone on her balcony she could hear the cars roll by out on 441 like waves crashin' in the beach

What I like about Tom is the jangly guitar sound and his apparently effortless and unaffected voice. It probably took a look of work to make it seem effortless. I never cared for his girly hair though.
