Vintage Camp Blankets

I have always loved vintage blankets. I lovingly call them camp blankets although it's been years since I've gone camping, but they make me feel like I want to go camping! I think this picture epitomizes the feeling very well.

I have run across some great blankets in the past and am always on the hunt for new {old} ones. I haven't had a lot of success locally, so I hit Etsy up to see if I could find some.

I love letting blankets inspire tablescapes.....

You might remember the tablescape I did with this blanket last year.....

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Lo and behold, I spied one just like it!

This was another popular tablescape that I used a blanket with. Although I didn't find the exact one, I did manage to find some great red ones.

I thought this one was great

and this one is still in the package! Hmmm, I wonder what the story is on that?

So have you come across any great camp blankets lately?

  1. I love the vintage plaid blankets. I have one put away some where, but I might have to do some digging. I do have some plaid wool fabric that would probably do just what I need for the table in the sunroom. Thanks for putting plaid into my brain!

  2. I did. I found one for $2 at my local thrift store that was perfect for fall. In oranges, red, and yellow. It was made by Tex Ranch Woolens. I have it draped over a white slipcovered chair in my family room. I is sort of itchy, but the colors are wonderful!

  3. No I haven't but I would like to. I have one in black and dark green that I get out every winter. It works great to snuggle on the sofa and watch a great movie.

  5. I am trying to do a tablescape like you did (natural christmas) for our ladies christmas banquet. Having a hard time finding camp blankets so I'm thinking of using a plaid scarf as a runner. What do you think? The table is 80" long by 30" wide so do you know where I can get about a 90" long plaid scarf??

  6. Darlene,

Vintage Camp blankets are becoming rare....

I think a scarf idea is good, perhaps flannel or fleece fabric?? I think that is inexpensive and would give the look. If nothing else, look for new plaid blankets, I know Pendleton has great ones but they are usually costly. Plaid fabric should be pretty easy to find 3 yards and you're set. :) If you find a fleece, it would look neat with a fringed edge...or what about just a check fabric, like in black...that would give the sophistication and the pine and red berries would make it Christmas

Hope this helps (and you have a fabric store near by!:)
