Winter Solstice

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!

It's time for another fun Tablescape Thursday! Be sure to visit Susan and all of the participants at Between Naps on the Porch

I didn't get to play dishes nearly as much as I wanted during December, but I couldn't resist a Winter Solstice Tablescape.

Though the Winter Solstice lasts only an instant in time, the term is also used to refer to Midwinter. So let's begin...

You will have to forgive me, I have been playing with my new lens that Santa (aka MIL :) brought me, and I hope you don't mind all the pictures...the new lens does takes some getting use to!

I have been really wanting to use the dishes that my dear MIL bought me as an early Christmas present and I thought this was a perfect look for them...Perfectly white with a silver band of snowflakes around the rim and a simple flake in the center

I didn't use any color {shocker}, mostly white and silver

Perfect for snowy weather

As a simple centerpiece, white candles in a shallow silver pedestal bowl, that I picked up for a steal this summer at GW . I almost painted it, but glad I kept it silver for the holidays!

For the silverware presentation, I used a simple pocket fold for the napkin with a silver snowflake and laid it all on a silver tray from the $Tree. There was even room for the goblet and the tray could later be used as a bread plate

Just for fun, I used flocked snowflakes and faux snow on the table as part of the centerpiece

I used very plain and simple linens, white with a square detail...

I used some fruit with the centerpiece with just the palest hint of green, the fruit and berries look so icy!

I also used silver chargers that I have had for years...remember when the plastic foil chargers were SO expensive? Now they are a dime a dozen...

I hope you have enjoyed my Winter Solstice Tablescape.
As we ring in the new year....I hope you and your families are blessed!

I am looking forward to 2010!

Happy New Year!

  5. Michelle, I bought the same dinner plates and bowls this year. When I went back to complete the set, they were all gone. So I loved seeing your tablescape, especially the silver snowflake with the napkin. The mercury bowls with candles is stunning. The simplicity of the setting with the elegance of the dishes is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your tablescape.

  9. Breathtaking! Love the idea of a Winter Solstice tablescape and you haven't disappointed with your interpretation of it! I really like all the silver elements with the white, perfect! I saw some similar dishes yesterday during the post-season sales and after seeing yours, I'm going back tomorrow to see if they are still there! Just when I thought your photography couldn't get any better, your MIL gives you a lens which has made it over the top! Love your blog!
    Happy 2010!
