Leafy Tablescape

Thursdays are fun aren't they? Tablescape Thursday that is!
This event is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
Be sure to visit her and all the other tablescapers!

This week I'm using my everyday dinnerware and featuring a couple of purchases that I made during my day trip to Nell Hill's in Kansas City.

It looked like it was going to rain all day today, so I stayed indoors, but I think this would look great outside!

Here's the Stuff...

My dinnerware might be from the Dollar Tree but I purchased it because it looked so similar to a set I liked at Pottery Barn.
The white dinnerware originally from IKEA, I found at the GW

The leaf plates are one of the purchases at Nell Hill's...I think they are so pretty...two was all I could squeeze into the budget...:)

The salt cellars are a recent purchase at Macy's

I bought these iced tea glasses at Nell Hill's too...Pretty!!

The linens I'm using are from Target.

Let's set the table!!

I'm using my sea grass chargers that are proving themselves very useful...love the texture!

The top bowl is perfect for cereal and ice cream, the next one I love for pasta

For a simple centerpiece, I'm using two bottles with orchids and kiwi vine, little modern white planters with maiden hair fern and of course candles

I used vintage paper around inexpensive votives...love the look.

I love this serving piece. It was Justin's Nana's

As you can see, I use my eat in kitchen as a dining room! It's pretty small here at my house! My time for a large house will come...when I'm rich and famous. :)

Where's my wide angle lens!?!

It's probably with my big house...

Thank you for visiting! I hope you like looking at the pictures as much as I love taking them!

Thank you Susan for hosting!

Girl's Day Out! (Kansas City. MO)

What better way to spend a Monday!

A couple of friends and I took a road trip to Kansas City to visit Nell Hill's.

Enjoy the photos...

What I think is most impressive about this store is the artwork and furniture...both out of my price range, but oh so pretty to look at!

If you ever get the chance to visit Nell Hill's

take it!

Painted Basket

Whilst strolling through The Picket Fence Flea Market on Friday I spied a bushel basket...a pretty common item, utilitarian to say the least...but I immediately liked it...it had a handle...not the little silver kind I'm use to seeing...a nicely handled bushel basket, not so common.

It was a little dirty, someone had put something on the handle that resembled a bow...but for $1.00, I could think of something to do with it.

I could let it hold toys...

we have a lot of those....

I could let it collect books and/or magazines...

...we have a lot of those too...

I gave it a white wash to seal it off and give it a fresh look.

I could have it to gather twigs...

or nuts and berries...

...you know, because I do that...

It could pose in the wilderness...
with the twigs...

and the nuts... (oh wait, that's me)

But you know what?

I've decided...

It's perfect function...for the now...

Forget toys, books and logic,

It is my "Carry Things Outside to Photograph" basket...

Perfect

Thank you for joining me on another Metamorphosis Monday be sure to visit all the participants over at Susan's "Between Naps on the Porch"

Bravura

I've been Thrift Shopping (again).
( I've been photographing outside too!:)

(yellow swirl plates, $1.00 each)

I am always on the look out for milk glass (#1), plates, dishes, glassware and anything that has potential .

(ribbed milk glass bowl $1.00)

As for plates and dishes; I love mixing it up

I don't look for matching sets, I don't mind having 2 or 4 of something...so it takes a lot of pressure away.

(Stoneware bottle $1.00 I LOVE this)

I think I'm slightly addicted to 'The Hunt' too...

(small milk glass bowl $1.00)

I scan the aisles looking to see what I can find...

what poor soul gave up the next feather in my cap...

When I see a filthy, dusty bowl...I can see through the grime?

Can I visualize what it will look like?

(white saucers .50 each)

I buy only things that I love...I've passed on milk glass, simply because I didn't like it...I don't want milk glass just for the sake of collecting, I want to love it!

(milk glass compote $1.00)

I like knowing that I am going to get a lot of use out of a piece too...I often buy duplicate pieces, that are going to be versatile...

I don't know why, I spend usually only .50 to $5.00 on a piece but after I get it home and wash it up.....dry it off .....it instantly becomes priceless.....

I am a collector and it's ok...:)

What are some of your collections?
