Bravura

I've been Thrift Shopping (again).
( I've been photographing outside too!:)

(yellow swirl plates, $1.00 each)

I am always on the look out for milk glass (#1), plates, dishes, glassware and anything that has potential .

(ribbed milk glass bowl $1.00)

As for plates and dishes; I love mixing it up

I don't look for matching sets, I don't mind having 2 or 4 of something...so it takes a lot of pressure away.

(Stoneware bottle $1.00 I LOVE this)

I think I'm slightly addicted to 'The Hunt' too...

(small milk glass bowl $1.00)

I scan the aisles looking to see what I can find...

what poor soul gave up the next feather in my cap...

When I see a filthy, dusty bowl...I can see through the grime?

Can I visualize what it will look like?

(white saucers .50 each)

I buy only things that I love...I've passed on milk glass, simply because I didn't like it...I don't want milk glass just for the sake of collecting, I want to love it!

(milk glass compote $1.00)

I like knowing that I am going to get a lot of use out of a piece too...I often buy duplicate pieces, that are going to be versatile...

I don't know why, I spend usually only .50 to $5.00 on a piece but after I get it home and wash it up.....dry it off .....it instantly becomes priceless.....

I am a collector and it's ok...:)

What are some of your collections?

  1. Good Morning Michelle!!
I am not sure how I got here...but I am glad I did! I read all the way back to your first blog. You really are such an inspiration. I love that you posted the video of "Under His Wings" - what harmony those sisters have!!!
Anyway, I am in the middle of my laundry room redo and so I must get back to it!

  2. Hi Michelle.
Your tablescapes are always so well put together. Setting tablescapes is definetly not one of my "gifts" so I love looking at yours. What a great collection! Set with the yellow plates and lemons, it makes a lovely summer table.

  3. You've found some gorgeous pieces. I am with you, when I see something that just calls me I have to have it. I like to pay less than $5 also. That way I always think I can treat myself. Love all of your pieces. Hugs, Marty

  5. I love what you said about collecting, that you don't buy a piece just because you find it, you have to love it. Many of us should learn that! We get caught up in the thrill of the find and the actual collecting. Our homes wouldn't be quite so cluttered and the good stuff could shine more! Great advice.

  7. I'm addicted as well. If you'd told me a year ago I'd be all over looking through every stack of plates I'd have said you have rocks in your head. But there I am, dusting them off just as you are. And I don't buy anything expensive either. No longer want sets. (Why on earth did I ever want sets I have no more room for??? Oh, I had rocks in my head.)
