Painted Basket

Whilst strolling through The Picket Fence Flea Market on Friday I spied a bushel basket...a pretty common item, utilitarian to say the least...but I immediately liked it...it had a handle...not the little silver kind I'm use to seeing...a nicely handled bushel basket, not so common.

It was a little dirty, someone had put something on the handle that resembled a bow...but for $1.00, I could think of something to do with it.

I could let it hold toys...

we have a lot of those....

I could let it collect books and/or magazines...

...we have a lot of those too...

I gave it a white wash to seal it off and give it a fresh look.

I could have it to gather twigs...

or nuts and berries...

...you know, because I do that...

It could pose in the wilderness...
with the twigs...

and the nuts... (oh wait, that's me)

But you know what?

I've decided...

It's perfect function...for the now...

Forget toys, books and logic,

It is my "Carry Things Outside to Photograph" basket...

Perfect

  11. I like your basket. I have been looking for something similar to keep under my kitchen worktable for storing recycling items. Yours is especially cute because it has a handle. The white wash made it even nicer.

  14. Hi Michelle,
It's funny that you asked about flipping the towel holder! I originally had it that way and was planning on doing a mosaic on the square part that would be on the top, but I didn't like any of the broken china that I had. Then I was gonna decoupage a photo or print. I just got tired and did the quick thing. Now, I am going to be racking my brain for an idea! It's not over yet!!!

Love the many uses of the bushel basket and I can see that it will have many uses and I would bet many colors in its future. Hugs Kathysue PS sorry about the orange. I am a Spring girl so orange never works in my home, I know it is a huge decorating trend color right now, but it will just always just be ORANGE to me,hehe

  19. I love it whitewashed. And it is the perfect basket for taking stuff outside to photograph. Even if it wants to be in the photos itself.
