Blooming Mums and Daisy

I am not the greatest gardener at all, I'll be the first to tell you this......but I have a tiny tiny flower bed that I pay special attention to (it's about all I can handle) and it is bursting with mums.
I took this picture on Wednesday ( Oct. 5th)

...and took this picture on wednesday (the 12th) and there is still some that haven't bloomed! I know these are a little overgrown ( I didn't get to cut them back this past spring) but I think they have turned out ok!!

The kale is growing nicely and I planted pansies too.

I love the purple with the fall tones.

Mums are high impact and super showy



Here is our girl Daisy. She waits for me while I'm outside working, this is a good pose of her...usually she's rolling around in the grass or sleeping on the sidewalk.



On a side note, I have drs. appointments on Monday and Tuesday so I won't be around. I should really sit down and write a post pertaining to my sickness/surgery/recovery. But it's just no fun. :) I'm sorry if you have been curious, I know it just seems like I haven't talked about it at all. Maybe one day soon.

DIY Chevron Floorcloth

After making my canvas placemats, I had a small amount of canvas left and decided to create a floorcloth. I have always wanted to try one, so I went for it. Being enamored with the Chevron pattern right now, I thought I would use it and seemed simple enough to create. First I primed and painted the piece of canvas, I did this on a scrap board so no one would walk on it while it was wet

Next, using 2 inch painter's tape, I created the Chevron pattern. I just eyeballed it, I was not going for perfection.

Using some black enamel paint left over from another project, I painted away!


After it dried, I took off the tape, and blurred the painted edges so it wouldn't look so "tapey" and laid it in the foyer.
I love how it looks and it added a great graphic pop!
It doesn't move around as much as I thought it would, and it's wearing pretty good.
This is a fun project, and didn't take very long at all!

Hooked on Daisy!

I would like to introduce you to Daisy...she is what I'm hooked on (the whole family is!) Daisy is a rescue animal that we've had about a 1 1/2 years now. She was very skinny and pitiful when we got her (notice this in some of the pictures.)I have never met a dog like Daisy, she is calm, serene and quiet, she takes a lot of abuse from my 3 year old...you know the standard: pulling of ears and tail and just generally squeezing her...she doesn't seem to mind...

She has funny habits too that make us laugh...I know this sounds weird...but she is a "stander" She kinda stands around...not all the time, but you'll walk around the corner and she'll be standing there...
My eldest son and her are 2 peas in a pod, they are found together most often...when she finally does lounge; it's with him. Isn't she cute?
